Boundary Rider

Northern Rivers Community Gallery - January-March 2026

Boundary Rider is an exhibition of abstract paintings by Jacqueline Scotcher (sister) and digital video projections made by me. We applied a slow approach to making in our respective mediums with the intention of connecting with the natural rhythms found in our local environment. By working alongside, we were able to respond to each other in real time, critique and align. This collaboration produced work that's in conversation and would not have otherwise been made solo. The resulting work is that of siblings; it shares the same DNA and many lived experiences, but is of the individuals.

Therapy—Under

‘Therapy-Under’ takes us beneath an imaginary surface, diving into a possible internal world. The fabric’s rise and fall create a breath-like quality, lofting through the thick atmosphere of the mind. Neon lines navigate the space, resolving into a circle, creating a visual ‘hush’ and a moment of precious focus; the digital loop offers an ongoing invitation into this state.

Therapy—Over

‘Therapy – Over’ echoes my local terrain, between the ocean horizon and rolling hinterland. Fabric is stretched into mountain and valley forms by wires that pull the material from flatness into relief. These threads suggest connections to place — a flexible tether that rises and falls in rhythm with natural forces. A glowing horizon line acts as a steady touchstone, moving with the fabric as the work loops seamlessly.
